Hi Ravi,

You have written a nice article, I generally agree with most of the things mentioned there except for a 1 point.

1. Show less emotion. The less emotion you show the more people are likely to really listen.

When it comes to speaking, I believe emotions have to be used appropriately though not overly. Unless we are reading from a news-script, there is no reason why we should not show some emotion when we speak. Unless of course you are saying that we should not show emotion until to the extent that it becomes like a chit-chat session of gossip where people always say 'Wow, ... ... !!!'

Ravi, I've been reading several of your posts and this is the best one yet.

From time to time I have occasion to speak publicly to people who are at least as well-informed as I am, sometimes more so. Since it is in a religious setting, I usually use those 3 seconds for a quick prayer! ;-)

Don't knock it ... it works.

I have another talk scheduled for June 26 of this year. I'll add these tips to my arsenal. Thank you for compiling them.

Hi Ravi,

Great piece of advice there. I liked it so much that I read it twice and have also printed out a copy of it.

I have a stutter and also run a business in web and graphic design. There are times when fear takes over you of stumbling when talking out there.

I will surely try some of your tips and tricks.

Thanks again !
