Find Your Big Dream Right Now

Find Your Dream

Since I posted the first chapter of Big Dreams I’ve gotten a lot of people telling me they don’t know what their big dream is.

So, since I have struggled with this myself from time to time I found the easiest way to pin it down is to ask myself some specific and concrete questions. I’ve written 15 questions that will help you find your dream, but you will probably only need 1 or 2 before it hits you.

  1. If you had $100 million dollars what would you do? Money is no issue. Just imagine what would you do with your life if money didn’t matter.
  2. What do you think about when you think about nothing? I believe that when you think about nothing, you are thinking about what you love. When I lay down at night and clear my mind for sleep, something always comes rushing back in. The thing I love most.
  3. What makes you happy every day? Just one thing, however big or small. Expand upon this and you will be closer to figuring out your dream.
  4. If you had 60 minutes left to live, what would you do? Sometimes in your last moments you will make crazy decisions. These are our gut instincts and can be associated to our big dream.
  5. What is one thing you would change about your life RIGHT NOW? Got it? Good. Now change it.
  6. How do you define success? From having a million stamps to having a million friends on facebook, success is a general term that each of us define for ourselves. Once you know what your definition of success is, you will be able to go for it.
  7. If you wrote your autobiography, how would you want people to remember you? If you want people to remember you as a hero, then start working towards that goal.
  8. If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be? Making a concrete choice will lead you to figure out what you need and will start to drive you towards that place.
  9. What is one thing that interests you more than anything else? Whether it’s a hobby, an object, or a person, there’s something you’re interested in so much that it drives you. Figure out why you are so interested in it and you will find your big dream.
  10. What do you hate doing? Sometimes you can find what you want to do by eliminating what you dislike doing.
  11. Who do you admire most? If they have what you want, then maybe they are living your dream (or have lived it). Figure out how to live that dream too.
  12. What is one thing you would change about the world? Now go change it.
  13. What are you doing when you feel the most alive? Is it skydiving? Writing? Speaking in front of people? Whatever gives you the thrill of living is a great indication as to what you want to really do with your life.
  14. What was the happiest moment of your life? Find a way to make that moment last for the rest of your life.
  15. What is one thing you would change about your past? When we look to the past we can see what will affect our future. So you can either figure out a way to make that a positive part of your past or learn from it and move forward. Either way, you’re finding the change to point to your dream.

Now that you have some answers you can compile these into a dream. Each one is a dream and makes up your big dream. Even the smallest things can give you an indication of what makes you happy and what you want to do with your life.

Don’t leave it up to chance, start succeeding and start being happy for the rest of your life, right now.

Now go own the world.

    Hi Ravi

I’ve just come across your site and wanted you to know that I think it’s brilliant. Your postings are so motivational, up beat and well written. You have insight well beyond your years. I also find it amazing that you are doing so much with your life - just reading through some of your writing work/treatments would be a full time job in itself for many people and yet you’re doing all the other things you enjoy too. You definitely ‘walk your talk’, which is really refreshing. I work with people to help ensure they make a difference and not waste a minute not living the life they want so we come from a similar space. As you say in this posting, many of them can’t define their dreams or, if they can, are just too fearful to go for them, constantly caught up in that cycle of fear of change and worrying too much about what people think about them. Once they shift their thinking, the world’s their oyster - and I have no doubt that your writing has helped many people down that path.

I’ve dug and stumbled your blog and signed up to your feed so really looking forward to further postings.

    All the best and thanks
